Branchline Trains has been producing high quality HO scale model railroad products since 1991. In the very beginning Branchline purchased undecorated cars and had them printed by outside contractors to our specifications. It wasn't very long before we decided to set up our own printing facility so that we could bring the process in-house and under closer control. By doing this we could keep a closer eye on the quality of the finished products as well as offer a more diverse range than had been previously possible. As our line of custom-decorated cars grew we developed a reputation for top quality, accurate print jobs. We moved our production into a facility adjacent to the main yard of the Connecticut Southern Railroad. Over the years many cars have come through this yard that have been the basis for Branchline products.
In 1997 development work began on the first of our own line of freight cars. Marketed under the "Blueprint Series" banner, these cars were designed to set new standards for a freight car kit. The first series of cars, the 50' AAR postwar boxcars, offered a variety of combinations of optional parts that allow us to closely replicate nearly any of the prototype cars. This philosophy would continue into future Blueprint releases.
Since then we have released three significant product lines. The first is the Blueprint Series HO passenger cars. These cars offer the first highly detailed, accurate heavyweight passenger car kits in HO.
The second line is our new "Yardmaster Series" kits. These kits are designed for quick assembly with the beginning modeler in mind, but with enough detail to satisfy more discriminating modelers as well.
Our third product line, "Laser-Art Structures", offers laser-cut wood structure kits in all major scales with fantastic detail and easy assembly.
Today all of Branchline's kits are manufactured in the USA in our Connecticut facility. The entire process from injection molding through artwork, decorating and packaging is done under one roof. Our kits are sold to dealers through Branchline Distributing, Inc., also in East Hartford.
At Branchline we always have many new and interesting projects on the drawing boards. Keep checking this site periodically for updates and news on all Branchline projects.
